Lampung's HOTTEST Urban Hotel: Azana's Chic Escape!
Azana's Chic Escape: Lampung's Hottest? Let's Dive In! (Buckle Up, Buttercups!)
Okay, so, Azana's Chic Escape. It's Lampung's "hottest" urban hotel, eh? Right. Well, I'm here to spill the tea, not to sip it delicately. I've been through a LOT of hotel rooms, and let me tell you, the good, the bad, and the "why did I book this?" are all present and accounted for.
First Impressions & Accessibility (or, the Great Staircase Debacle!)
Alright, getting there. This is a big factor for me. Let's talk Accessibility. Now, the website claims "facilities for disabled guests," which is great! But… and there’s always a "but," isn't there?… I’m not specifically disabled, but I travel with a friend who uses a wheelchair, and checking out how truly accessible a place is important to me. The entrance was… okay. Flat enough, at least. But the initial trek felt a little like climbing Mount Everest. (Okay, maybe not, but the elevator seemed a little slow for my liking.)
The Good Stuff: Comfort & Convenience (aka Blissful Bedtime!)
Once inside, the Internet access situation was a godsend. Free Wi-Fi in all rooms! Hallelujah! And it actually worked. Seriously, that’s a big win for me. I mean, I need to stay connected, you know? Gotta be able to Instagram my avocado toast. Plus, Internet [LAN] was there too, just in case, which is helpful. And they have Wi-Fi in public areas, too, for all the lurking in the lobby (kidding… mostly).
Now, the rooms themselves… Ah, yes. The sanctuary! The Additional toilet was a super pleasant surprise (especially after that spicy street food). The Air conditioning was glorious – a must in that Lampung heat. The Blackout curtains? Essential for my (slightly) diva-ish sleep schedule. And I absolutely loved having Bathrobes, so much better than wearing your own clothes. Let's not forget the Coffee/tea maker and the Complimentary tea – the perfect start to a staycation!
Chic Escape’s Dining & Drinking
Okay, let's talk about the crucial stuff: food. Dining, drinking and snacking This is where things got a little… uneven. Restaurants are on site, which is fantastic. They have several Restaurants, including Coffee/tea in restaurant. The Coffee shop was actually pretty good for a quick caffeine fix.
Breakfast [buffet] I love a good buffet, but this one was… a little meh. Standard Asian fare, with some Western breakfast options. Asian cuisine in restaurant, Vegetarian restaurant. The Coffee/tea in restaurant was a lifesaver, frankly. The Breakfast service was efficient, but the atmosphere felt a bit… sterile. I think I'd have preferred a simple Breakfast in room situation, or at least a decent Breakfast takeaway service.
Poolside Bar - And My Epic Fail
They had a Poolside bar, which sounded AMAZINGGG. I got all excited, envisioning myself lounging by the Swimming pool [outdoor] with a cocktail, living the high life. Spoiler alert: I ended up spilling a HUGE drink on myself—a sticky mess.
Things to Do & Ways to Relax: Spa Dreams… or, Not So Much?
Let's be honest, I was really looking forward to the spa. All that Body wrap, Body scrub, and possibly even a Sauna… Pure bliss! I needed to relax! The website boasted a Spa, Spa/sauna and possibly Steamroom. But, while the website mentioned all those lovely treatments, they weren't quite up to my expectations.
They have a Fitness center too. And a Gym/fitness. Not for me; I work best walking.
Cleanliness, Safety & the COVID-19 Circus
Cleanliness and safety are paramount. I was checking out how well they are handling the COVID-19 situation. Anti-viral cleaning products – check. Hand sanitizer – check. Safe dining setup was also good but there are also lots of things which is a plus! They offer a Breakfast takeaway service. Staff trained in safety protocol – hopefully! – check.
Everything Else: The Fine Print (and a Few Quirks)
Okay, so, some smaller details. Check-in/out [express]. Excellent! They had a Doorman, super polite. Gift/souvenir shop – useful for last-minute presents (or treating myself, obviously). Laundry service – thank the lord!
The Quirks
- The Rooms sanitized between stays were great, but I think the whole place was a bit sterile and felt like it was missing personality.
- The Meeting/banquet facilities and Meetings were a plus, but I don't think I'll be attending these.
- The Car park [free of charge] was a plus!
- Babysitting service and Family/child friendly which is a plus!
The Verdict: Is Azana's Chic Escape Worth it?
Would I recommend Azana's Chic Escape? Hmm… It's a solid, functional hotel. It has its perks (hello, comfy bed and reliable Wi-Fi!). The staff were helpful and friendly.
My Offer – You In?
Okay, so here’s the deal. If you're looking for a clean, comfortable, and convenient urban hotel in Lampung, Azana's Chic Escape is a decent option. But, listen, it's not perfect.

Horn Lake's BEST Kept Secret: Comfort Inn Review & Hidden Perks!Okay, buckle up buttercup, because this isn't your grandma's meticulously planned travel itinerary. We're going to get REAL about my Lampung adventure, the whole damn, glorious, messy truth. We're talking about a trip to the Urban Style Hotel Lampung, part of the Azana Hotels Collection. Let's dive in.
Urban Style Hotel Lampung: A Soulful Mess of a Trip (or, "How I learned to stop planning and love the kerupuk")
Day 1: Arrival & First Impressions (aka "Jakarta to Lampung - Hallelujah!")
- Morning: Jakarta. Ugh. Traffic. Let's just say I'm not a morning person, especially when there's the Jakarta traffic to deal with. Somehow, I managed to get to Soekarno-Hatta Airport with only a minor meltdown involving a lost phone charger and a screaming toddler on the bus. (Emotional Reaction: Pure, unadulterated relief to clear the airport parking area). The flight itself was… well, it was a flight. Mostly I just tried not to spill my tiny cup of coffee.
- Afternoon: Landed in Bandar Lampung! Thank God. The air felt cleaner, the sun brighter. The airport…surprisingly modern. The taxi ride to the Urban Style Hotel was an adventure in itself. The driver, bless his heart, knew every shortcut, which meant we were careening down roads, dodging motorbikes, and having a conversation in broken Indonesian (thank you, Duolingo!).
- Hotel Check-In: First impressions of the Urban Style? Clean. Modern. Air-conditioned bliss. The staff were super friendly, like, too friendly, but in a good way. They seemed genuinely happy to have me. (Quirky Observation: Does everyone in Lampung have a smile permanently etched on their face?) My room? Simple, minimalist, and exactly what I needed after the journey. Thumbs up.
- Evening: The Kerupuk Revelation: Okay, confession time. I'm a foodie. And when I saw the plate of kerupuk (Indonesian crackers) in the hotel's restaurant, I thought, "Meh. Just another crunchy thing." BOY, WAS I WRONG. That first bite? A revelation. Light, airy, perfectly seasoned. I proceeded to eat approximately a million of them, dipping them in the chili sauce. (Doubling down and emotional reaction: I nearly wept. Seriously. Kerupuk. Who knew? This is the defining moment of the trip). Dinner after that was a blur of Nasi Goreng and blissful satisfaction. Definitely the moment I knew I was in love with this city.
Day 2: Exploring & Cultural Clumsiness
- Morning: I managed to wake at a reasonable hour. It felt as though a new day dawned for the first time in my life. I was ready for adventure. Breakfast at the hotel was decent.. The pastries were a bit dry, to be honest.
- Afternoon: Way Kambas National Park (Attempt): This was the big one. Way Kambas! Elephants! The brochures promised a majestic experience. Reality was…a bit different. The drive took forever, the guide was late (or maybe I was the one who was late, I don't rightly remember), the roads were bumpy, and the air was thick. Then, we were stuck in a traffic jam, seemingly in the middle of nowhere. We only saw one elephant, from about a mile away, and it was mostly obscured by trees. (Messy structure and occasional rambles: I blame the traffic! And the fact that I maybe, possibly, hadn't eaten enough kerupuk that morning).
- Evening: Sunset Beach & Street Food Frenzy: Decided to ditch the rest of the Way Kambas excursion. We ended up at a beach for sunset. Actually, quite a beautiful moment. Ended the day with street food. Absolutely loved it. The vendors were wonderfully chatty, the food was cheap, and I tried everything. From sate lilit to martabak manis.
Day 3: Hotel Heaven & Farewell (with a side of regret)
- Morning: Poolside Bliss: Did absolutely nothing. Just lounging by the hotel pool. Sometimes you just need a day of pure relaxation. The Urban Style Hotel's pool was perfect, the sun felt just right, and I spent hours doing nothing but reading and people-watching. (Opinionated language and natural pacing: This is what a vacation is all about, people!)
- Afternoon: The Kerupuk Hangover (Literally): Yes, I overdid it on the kerupuk again. Let's just say, my stomach was not thrilled. Ordered room service—thankfully, the hotel had a great menu. I mostly ate soft food and rested.
- Evening: Farewell Dinner & Emotional Rambling: Sadly, it was time to leave. I didn’t get to do everything I planned. I didn’t see all the sights. I didn’t fully conquer my fear of motorbikes. I didn’t learn more Indonesian, not even the basics (terima kasih!). (Stronger emotional reactions: It's a mix of melancholy and pure joy at the memory). But I did discover the Kerupuk, and I’ll never be the same. This trip was great, and I will never forget Urban Style Hotel Lampung.
Day 4: Back to Reality…and the Promise of Kerupuk.
- Back in Jakarta airport. The plane back was delayed. I spent the time dreaming of kerupuk.
- Final Thoughts (or, "What I learned in Lampung"):
- Never underestimate the power of a good cracker.
- Sometimes, plans fall apart, and that's okay.
- Bandar Lampung is a vibrant, friendly city.
- You can survive on street food and a smile.
- I need to learn more Indonesian. And maybe find a supplier of kerupuk back home.
(End Scene: Cue the sound of a satisfied sigh and the faint crunch of… well, you know.)
