Rimini's Hidden Gem: Mercure Artis Hotel Review (You Won't Believe This!)
Rimini's Hidden Gem: Mercure Artis Hotel Review (You Won't Believe This!) - A Chaotic Love Story
Alright, buckle up buttercups, because I'm about to spill the (perfectly sanitized) tea on the Mercure Artis Hotel in Rimini. And trust me, you won't believe this. This isn't some sanitized, corporate-speak review. This is real life, with all the glorious messiness and the occasional eye-roll.
First Impressions: Accessibility & "Almost" Perfection (Ugh, That Lift!)
Let's get the practical stuff out of the way first. Accessibility is HUGE for me, and the Mercure Artis mostly delivers. Wheelchair accessible rooms are available (phew!), and the common areas generally presented no major struggles. BUT, and there's always a "but," that blasted elevator… it felt like it was moving at the speed of continental drift. Patience, people! Just a minor annoyance, but something to be aware of if you're in a rush. BUT I found the facilities for disabled guests was excellent. Also, the CCTV in common areas and especially the CCTV outside property, made me feel super-safe walking around.
Internet, Glorious Internet! (and the Occasional Glitch)
Okay, tech junkies, listen up! The Free Wi-Fi in all rooms!, and I mean ALL ROOMS!, is a godsend. And thank god it's Internet access – wireless. I practically lived on it while I was there. I mean, I needed to, you know, work. The Internet [LAN] was also an option, although I didn't delve into it. The Internet services and Wi-Fi in public areas were also adequate. Of course, there were a couple of moments where the signal died a slow, painful death. I blame the Italian power grid. But hey, who needs the internet when you're staring at the Adriatic Sea, right? (Lies. I still needed the internet.)
Cleanliness & Safety: Did I Mention They're Obsessed? (Thank God For That!)
Oh. My. God. These people are serious about cleanliness. Like, "take my temperature before I enter the lobby" serious. Anti-viral cleaning products, Daily disinfection in common areas, Rooms sanitized between stays, and a whole army of Staff trained in safety protocol. I felt safer here than I do in my own surgically-cleaned apartment (seriously, I'm a disaster). Hand sanitizer was everywhere. EVERYWHERE. They really had it covered here, right though to the Sterilizing equipment and Professional-grade sanitizing services. I was so relaxed about the safety, that even the individually-wrapped food options in rooms and the safe dining setup were well in place.
Dining, Drinking, and Snacking: From Breakfast to the "Gusto" of Life
Now, let's talk about the most important thing: FOOD.
- Breakfast [buffet]: Surprisingly good. The Western breakfast with all the classic components, eggs, bacon, the whole shebang. Plus a solid Asian breakfast as well if you are into that kind of thing. Plenty of coffee, which is crucial. The Breakfast takeaway service was a lifesaver on a day when I slept through my alarm (ahem). The Coffee/tea in restaurant was plentiful and delicious. The A la carte in restaurant was a great alternative if you dont like the buffet.
- Restaurants: They have a few! Including a solid vegetarian restaurant which was great, and the Italian restaurant, an experience!
- Bar: Drinks here, and the Poolside bar were fantastic. Oh! And the Happy hour was legendary.
- Room Service [24-hour]: Perfect for those late-night cravings (or, you know, when you just can't be bothered to get dressed).
- Other things that were a pleasant surprise: Bottle of water, for free, and Essential condiments were always available.
The "Gusto" of Life Experience: Falling in Love with My Room (Seriously!)
I'm going to be honest here. I had a total love affair with my room. It wasn’t the most luxurious room I've ever stayed in, but there was something about it that just clicked.
- Available in all rooms.
- Additional toilet was a huge plus, believe me. The Bathrobes were fluffy. The Blackout curtains were a lifesaver after those epic happy hours. The Coffee/tea maker was a must-have. (More coffee!). The Complimentary tea was a nice touch too. I was glad to see the Daily housekeeping was up to standard. The High floor and Non-smoking room were welcome too. The Mini bar was always stocked. The Private bathroom was spotless. I also liked the Reading light and the Refrigerator. The Seating area was perfect for chilling. I was so happy to see the Slippers I could relax in! I really like the Socket near the bed because I was always charging something. The Soundproofing was superb. I loved the Towels! The Wake-up service was reliable.
- The Bed: The Extra long bed was a dream. I'm a restless sleeper, and seriously, I slept like a baby. Also, there was a Sofa too if I wanted to sit and relax.
- The View: Okay, the view wasn't oceanfront (boohoo!), but my Window that opens offered a decent view of the city, and sometimes the sunrises were spectacular.
- The Extras: The Alarm clock was functional. The Mirror was strategically placed for maximum selfie opportunities. The Safety/security features were top-notch.
- The Glitches: The Wi-Fi died. (I'm used to that). The Internet access – LAN thing scared me. But the Linens were soft. The Umbrella was handy. The Wake-up service was helpful and the Hair dryer was efficient.
Ways to Relax (and Maybe Get Slightly Addicted to the Spa…)
Okay, so the Mercure Artis isn't just a place to sleep. It's a place to recharge. And boy, did I recharge! The Swimming pool [outdoor] was perfect for quick dips. I didn't make it to the Pool with view, but I heard it was superb.
- The Spa: This is where things got a little… intense. The Spa/sauna was my happy place. The Steamroom was where I went to sweat out all my bad decisions. And the Massage? Oh, the massage. I'm pretty sure I floated away into a blissful coma. I'm also glad that the Gym/fitness was there, even though I never went.
- Other bits: The Body scrub was amazing. I didn't get a Body wrap, though I was tempted. I took a pass on the Foot bath, mostly because I was too lazy.
Services and Conveniences: They Thought of Everything (Almost)
- The Good: Cash withdrawal was easy, and the Concierge was helpful. The Daily housekeeping was excellent. Laundry service was convenient. The Meeting/banquet facilities looked impressive (though I didn't use them). The Elevator (did I complain?) was there to get me up and down.
- The "Meh": The Convenience store was okay, but I preferred the local little store down the street. The Dry cleaning was a bit pricey.
- The Unique: I wasn't there the right time for the Audio-visual equipment for special events, the Outdoor venue for special events, or the Wi-Fi for special events. I was still happy the Facilities for disabled guests were top notch.
For the Kids: Family Friendly is an Understatement!
Okay, listen up, parents! The Mercure Artis is a godsend for families. The Family/child friendly atmosphere is amazing. I had the Babysitting service available whenever they were needed. I would suggest the Kids meal as a great option when families are there.
Getting Around: Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy
- The Airport transfer was seamless. The Car park [free of charge] was a bonus. I didn't need the Bicycle parking or the Car power charging station, but they're there. The Taxi service was readily available.
Things to Do (Beyond the Hotel): Rimini & Beyond!
Rimini itself is charming. From the beach to the historical sites, there's plenty to keep you entertained. Take a walk, enjoy the gelato, and soak up the Italian vibes. The Shrine was intriguing. I found the Terrace perfect for a coffee. I also spent some time at the Gift/souvenir shop.
In Conclusion: Would I Go Back? (Absolutely!)
Here's
Ursula Beach Club: Palawan's Paradise Awaits (You Won't Believe Your Eyes!)Okay, buckle up, buttercups, because we're about to dive headfirst into my imagined Italian adventure at the Mercure Rimini Artis. Forget pristine itineraries, this is gonna be a glorious, chaotic mess. Let’s go!
Day 1: Arriving in a Whirlwind and the Pizza Predicament
- Morning (or what passes for it after a red-eye): ARRIVAL! Ugh, airports. The smell of jet fuel and existential dread. Finally, Rimini! Taxi, taxi, prego! And then… the Mercure! I’m picturing something sleek, maybe a little bit art-deco-ish… or maybe just beige. Doesn’t matter, I'm here. I'm pretty sure I was also hungry and tired. I did try to check in, but I forgot the passport. I would realize this later and it will be a problem.
- Afternoon (Post-Check-In, Possibly With a Nap Attempt): Okay, unpacking. Always a disaster. I'm that person who always forgets something crucial. This time? Probably my favorite socks. Anyway, time to explore the hotel! I’m going to find the bar first. And then the coffee machine. God, I need caffeine. Found it!
- Evening: The Pizza Pilgrimage (and the Passport Predicament): Right, pizza. Rimini. Must. Have. Pizza. I start out determined, armed with a vague recommendation from a friend who "knows Rome like the back of her hand" and a google map of restaurants that are good. I try to find a restaurant on the beach. The first place smells divine, but the queue is biblical. "Nope," I mutter, retreating. The second place? Closed, apparently, due to the fact that it was Tuesday. The third place was a bit of a hole, and the pizza was awful, greasy. Then I needed to go back to the hotel to find my passport. It was in my wallet! I could of had a great pizza.
Day 2: Beach Bliss (Sort Of) and the Great Gelato Gamble
- Morning: Sunshine and Sassiness: Okay, beach time! Armed with way too much sunscreen and a swimsuit that's probably seen better days. I hit the sand, determined to become a bronzed god/goddess (the "god" part is debatable, let's be honest). The problem? SAND. It gets everywhere. And the sun? Holy moly. By the time I’ve achieved a slightly pink hue, I realize I forgot a hat. Classic.
- Afternoon: Gelato Gauntlet (and a Meltdown): Gelato. The reason I came to Italy. I envisioned myself elegantly strolling, licking a masterpiece. Instead, I'm sweating, fumbling with Euros, and trying to choose between a million flavors. Chocolate? Pistachio? Stracciatella? The pressure is immense. I finally settle on something… and drop it. Right on the cobblestones. My face: pure, unadulterated despair. This is the worst day ever. This time, I had to use some of my credit cards to get more gelato.
- Evening: Dinner Dilemmas and Stargazing: I stumble back to the hotel, slightly defeated. I decide to order room service. The pasta is actually pretty good, thank God for small mercies. I try to enjoy the view or the sunset, but I’m not sure about it since the hotel wall blocked it from view.
Day 3: Art, Aromas, and the Almost-Disaster
- Morning: A Date With Da Vinci (Sort Of): Okay, time for some culture! I wander towards the Museo della Città, hoping for a dose of art history. I get there, and it's closed for renovations. "Are you kidding me?!" I yell into the general direction of Italy. I can see how this whole trip could be a disaster. I found some cool old buildings.
- Afternoon: Perfumed Obsession: I’m going to try and find the perfect perfume. I could've sworn I heard about it. And I smell everything. And I ended up buying one in a tiny little shop.
- Evening: I get very lost. I hate being lost. This is bad, because I found the worst restaurant and I don't know how to get back to the hotel. I'm having a glass of wine. I'm going to be okay.
Day 4: Farewell, For Now (and a Promise to Return)
- Morning: Last-Minute Memories: A final breakfast at the hotel, staring out the window. Did I ever feel like I got my bearings? Probably not. But I did get to Rimini, which I wanted to do.
- Afternoon: Heading Home: Taxi time! Departure again. I have to go back to the airport, and it's a mess. I'm going to miss this trip, even with all the hiccups.
- Evening: I'm going to miss the pasta. Maybe I'll be back. I promise myself.
And there you have it, folks! My messy, beautiful, and probably slightly disappointing Italian adventure. But hey, at least it was real, right? And that's the most important thing. Now, where's my favorite socks?!
